چکیده
• Streamwise vortices are formed around the serration under loading; Vortices cause a local increase in wall-pressure fluctuations; Wall-pressure fluctuation increased by induced mean flow-turbulence interaction; Aerodynamic loading associated with loss of noise reduction performance serrations; The impact aerodynamic on serrated trailing edge is studied experimentally. and acoustic measurements conducted sawtooth-shaped edge, retrofitted to flat plate featuring trailing-edge flap, placed at incidence free-stream flow. turbulent flow across inspected time-resolved three-dimensional velocity field obtained from 4D-PIV, while fluctuations measured surface-embedded microphones. Results discuss relation between over serrations, surface pressure fluctuations, far-field spectra. analysis discusses effect counter-rotating vortex pairs, generated imbalance edges serrations loading. It shown that interaction these incoming turbulence affects intensity spectrum outer rim surface. On suction side, boundary layer dominates pairs. instead, gradient prescribed pairs produces significant edges. resulting spatial distribution directly noise. Scattering predictions carried out centre root (on side) exhibit good agreement low-frequency range, whereas using data tip yields better prediction high-frequency range.

Aerodynamic Shape Optimization of an Adaptive Morphing Trailing Edge Wing
Adaptive morphing trailing edge wings have the potential to reduce the fuel burn of transport aircraft. In this paper, we quantify the aerodynamic performance benefits of a morphing trailing using aerodynamic design optimization. The aerodynamic model solves the Reynolds-averaged Navier– Stokes equations with a Spalart–Allmaras turbulence model. A gradient-based optimization algorithm is used i...
متن کاملAn experimental study of airfoil instability tonal noise with trailing edge serrations
This paper presents an experimental study of the effect of trailing edge serrations on airfoil instability noise. Detailed aeroacoustic measurements are presented of the noise radiated by an NACA-0012 airfoil with trailing edge serrations in a low to moderate speed flow under acoustical free field conditions. The existence of a separated boundary layer near the trailing edge of the airfoil at a...
متن کاملOwl-inspired leading-edge serrations play a crucial role in aerodynamic force production and sound suppression.
Owls are widely known for silent flight, achieving remarkably low noise gliding and flapping flights owing to their unique wing morphologies, which are normally characterized by leading-edge serrations, trailing-edge fringes and velvet-like surfaces. How these morphological features affect aerodynamic force production and sound suppression or noise reduction, however, is still not well known. H...
